The Brief's key-points:
- Produce three illustrations for a series of books jackets, at the size of an existing travel guide, for the locations Istanbul, Helsinki and Milan.
- Create illustrations in which many elements are brought together in a diagrammatic way. They would also like the type to be hand-drawn in an appropriate style.
- Write yourself a brief that is challenging but manageable.
- Provide client visuals for all three covers and a mock-up for one.
I found very difficult to stay motivated thorughout this exercise, I was quite undesicive about the approach and the best medium to finalize the illustration. As much as I was feeling confident in some of the exercises in Part IV, I found that this time I was hesitant about the process. The positive side of this is that I'm thinking on spendig some more time developing a stronger process and focus in in one or two techniques to finalize my pieces.
I also realized when I was ahead in the process that i didn't write myself a the proper brief that the exercise sigested, so that might had contributed to the disorientation I felt when working in this part.
The pathway I took was gathering some infromationa bout the cities and city guide desing which is in this Pinterest board : www.pinterest.com/astrid_badell/ocas-projects/exercise-travel-guides/ , Then I did some quick sketches of items related to the coutries. I also made a list of ideas. I sketched out some optios for the title and then went on to diagramtion.
